Vietnamese food, in my opinion, is quite simple…yet, it’s one of my favorite types of cuisine. A great dish that I’ve had the pleasure to come across is the Vietnamese sandwich, otherwise called banh mi.
From the Salt Lake Tribune:
The Vietnamese-style hero sandwich - called banh mi - is a melding of a crusty baguette, seasoned meats, crisp Asian vegetables and cooling herbs. It’s been called “French and Asian fusion at its best” and even “cheesesteak sandwich meets spring rolls.”
Hmmm…I don’t know if I’m really feeling the description of “cheesesteak sandwich meets spring rolls”, but I do agree with the French and Asian fusion bit. With fresh cool and pickled vegetables along with flavorful meats, you just can’t go wrong. To top it off, it’s generally inexpensive…great lunch idea, indeed.
Well, enough description…
