Apparently Singapore is the Best Place to Live for Asian Expatriates

The International Herald Tribune recently wrote an article about Asian expatriates and the best places to live for them. ECA International, an international human resource consultancy group, conducted a survey regarding the best overall quality of life for Asian expatriates. ECA International has an annual location ranking for the best living standards comparing 254 international locations(so not just countries, but cities and towns within countries as well.)…seemingly from the report, Singapore “is an ideal place for Asians to live in because of the quality of its infrastructure and health facilities”.
This is quite interesting, but I’m not surprised. It’s very clean (maybe they’re a bit too strict on that…which brings me to a question, do they still cane people?), has low air pollution, has low crime rates, has a charming landscape, and probably more than I can think of…well, maybe I can think of a few more things. I’ve visited Singapore several years ago and remember it being full of life and having great food.

From the article, “Sydney came in second, followed by Melbourne, Australia, and Kobe, Japan, which tied for third place in the ranking that combines data collected by ECA International with results of a survey of expatriates.”

Again, I’m not that surprised, all very great locations, and a sizeable Asian population(in Japan’s case, I would be meaning non-Japanese Asians). An interesting bit of information found from data collected, Sydney and Singapore scored fairly closely. However, due to its geographical distance from Asia, Singapore became more favorable.
As for the least? ECA International determined that Baghdad, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan among some of the least favorable places for Asian expatriates. Again…not that surprised.
